Things You May Not Know about Sy Schlager

Sy Schlager is a pretty well known name in the world of medicine and research, as well it should be because he has devoted his entire life to the advancement of both, and in making sure that other health professionals, and their patients can benefit and prosper from his tireless energy and work.

What is a little less well known about him are the countless prizes and awards that Sy Schlager has received as reward for his dedication and hard work. One of these was First Prize at the Sigma Xi Society Research Forum, which is based at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. This is an important forum in the world of research because it deals with the ethics that are part and parcel of the field. The forum takes place before an audience who listen to a number of experts speak on a specific ethical issue, before being invited to put questions to the panel, thus paving the way forward for debate.

Sy Schlager was also awarded with the US Public Health service Traineeship in Oncology, and also the Milan V. Novak Prize in Microbiology, again, both from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He has also received the American Association of Immunologists International Congress Travel Award, and has had more than one mention in American Men and Women in Science and Who’s Who in Frontier Science and Technology.

These awards and recognitions are impressive but they do not stop there. Sy Schlager has also had the President’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Research bestowed upon him during his time at Abbott Laboratories, which is where he conducted much of his research into AIDS and antiviral treatments.

He was awarded Physician Consultant for the Illinois Department of Rehabilitation Services and John Hancock Managed Care. His name was also listed in the prestigious Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare.

Sy Schlager has also been a consulting medical and legal expert for the Medical Review Foundation, Inc., and also a member of the international editorial board of the Internal Medicine World Report.

These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to exactly how involved Sy Schlager is in the world of medicine and research, and some of the awards that he has received. In fact, he participates in the affairs of over 20 professional organizations and bodies.
